Start your day off at the Ay-Chung Noodle Shop in Ximending. There’s only one thing on the menu here, so ordering doesn’t get much easier than this. Ay-Chung’s is adept at providing service in 15 seconds flat, and it is famous for its hearty vermicelli noodles stewed in a thick soup bursting with flavor. It’s the ultimate fast food experience in Taipei.
Ay-Chung Noodles shop has been serving customers since 1975. People come from all over to eat these noodles. They’re that good. You won’t find a cheaper lunch, either. A large bowl of delicious melt-in-your-mouth noodles is just NT$50! ($1.50 US).
The shop is hard to miss. Just look for the long line-ups and a crowd of people busily slurping piping hot noodles in front of the shop. That’s right. There’s no seating here. Patrons here squat or stand with their bowls of noodles.
