I went to their Pasadena (LA) with high expectations. It is, of course, a legendary name among shao long bao fanatics. The skin was firm and held in the soup. But the flavor was overly complicated by everything but the sweet pork. I much prefer the shanghai dumplings at Koi Palace, where they also serve it with a sweeter vinager. But the chicken soup at din tai fung was excellent - clear, shimmering, and soulful. It was simple as a good chicken soup should be.
