Elevate your Hong Kong experience at the IFC

One important signature of a modern city is its skyscrapers. Blocks and blocks of stone, metal and glass are piled up to sky-reaching heights, shaping the city's appearance in the most extreme way, making it into a shining and sparkling paradise. The International Financial Center 2, also known as the 2 IFC, truly attracts a lot of people's attention. The IFC was once the tallest building in Hong Kong and its glamorous shopping mall is one the most famous malls in the city.

The 88 stories high building was inaugurated in 2003. It helped turn the Central of Hong Kong into a region of beautiful shining mirrors. It was one of the most significant markings of Hong Kong. The building is well known for the special design of the roof, which consists of pointed-blade like architecture stabbing at the sky. Some people might even find it looks like a razor shaving the clouds!

If you want to know more about the wonderful building, you can find excellent information about the International Financial Centre on the 55th floor. You might be able to sneak a peek over the busy Central of Hong Kong, too! The building also represents Hong Kong's role as an international financial centre as only the most prestigious companies and firms can afford the tremendous amount of rent for offices located in the IFC.

To match up with the high-class atmosphere created by its expensive and gloriously designed office, the IFC shopping mall sells nothing cheap. Only the most famous and popular international brands will be accepted to open up shops in the mall. Brands like Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Agnes B sell unbelievably expensive items in their own luxuriously furnished shops. All kinds of goods can be found there, ranging from traditional Chinese food and clothing, glamorous jewellery, books to extravagant televisions, cameras, nail furnishing services and western shoes, ties and suits. Office ladies love to window-shop in the IFC mall, appreciating the design of dresses and shocked by the astonishing price. Only the wealthiest and famous individuals will be able to shop care-free at the IFC mall.

As Hong Kong was once the colony of Britain and now one of the most famous cities of China, Hong Kong has a tremendous blend of both Chinese and western cultures. The most obvious blend can be shown by the various celebrations of special occasions and festivals. You can also expect the mall to be decorated with splendid embellishment on these occasions. During Chinese festivals like the important Chinese New Year, the mall will be decorated with gorgeous flowers and hanging red banners with Chinese best wishes written on them called the "Fai-Chun"; while celebrating western festivals, enormous Christmas trees decorated with beautiful bells and angels will be placed in the most attracting areas of the mall at Christmas, giant Easter eggs are scattered around the floor of the mall at Easter, spooky ghosts and witches accompanied by enormous pumpkins carved with ghastly smiles at Halloween... You can find yourself in a festive atmosphere around the mall throughout the year. The IFC is a marvelous place to visit as it is a place where cultures all around the world gather and blend together. So get ready to be shocked, spooked, surprised, thrilled, warmed and welcomed by the International Financial Centre.
