HONG KONG, April, 2006 -- The Fringe Club and Epson Hong Kong Limited present an exhibition of black & white environmental portraits from Cambodia, Vietnam and China by New York photographer Michael Schenker.

Out in the desolate highlands of Sarjagag with the Kyrgyz, meandering through the Uighur alleys of the Silk Road trading post of Kashgar, trekking through Sapa with the Hmong, hiking the rolling red-clay hills of Ratanakiri with the Jarais or meeting ethnic Miao and Dong hill tribes in Guizhou has produced images and encounters with people and cultures essentially unchanged for centuries.

The medium format photographs reflect the often nomadic and diverse lifestyle that so few in the Western world experience firsthand. These images capture the beauty, dignity, ethnicity and traditions of the remote people of Asia and speak for a people who often have no voice, enabling their lifestyle to be shared with those who are intrigued.

Opening to be held on April 5, 2006 at 6:30pm at the Fringe Club, fotogalerie, 2, Lower Albert Road, Central, Hong Kong. The show will close on April 19, 2006.
