For a luxury holiday in Vietnam, China Beach - a miles-long stretch of sand running from Da Nang south to Hoi An and beyond - is a perfect destination. The combination of a stunning, wild beach with the proximity of Hoi An's historic ancient town and some of Vietnam's best hotels is a winner.

Whether you want to lounge by the pool in luxurious comfort, shop till you drop in the handicraft and tailor shops, head to the golf course, hit the beach or explore the ruins of an ancient civilization you have plenty of options for relaxation or recreation. With an international airport in Da Nang, arrival is quick and easy, with transfers to hotels taking 20 minutes or less.

Luxury Beach-front hotels

The Nam Hai Resort is perhaps one of the most spectacular resorts in Vietnam, with three beachfront swimming pools and two gourmet restaurants. Set in luscious tropical gardens, many of the private villas have their own private infinity swimming pools.

The Furama Resort is probably the finest of all Da Nang hotels, and one of the longest established, with a prime location on China beach and spectacular views from the tastefully decorated rooms as well as great spa facilities.

The Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort has a well earned reputation for its great position, facilities and services. Fronted by the beach and with scenic river views to the rear of the resort the Victoria is in an excellent location, and boasts stunning design of its rooms and gardens.

For those who value peace and quiet above all else on their holidays, Le Domaine De Tam Hai is a resort situated off the coast on the island of Tam Hai.  With just 12 villas you can be sure to have a tranquil stay.

For those who want luxury facilities and good value room rates, Hoi An Beach Resort offers great four star quality at a more affordable price, and also takes a prime position on the beach, and while the River Beach Resort may be a short walk from the sea it delivers on service and style despite the budget price tag.

Riverside Hotels

An alternative for those more interested in the area's nature and culture than beach life would be to take a room in one of the beautiful resorts set on Hoi An's river. Just a stone's throw from town yet with the peace and quiet of the countryside, nothing beats watching the water hyacinth float down river while sipping a cocktail on the terrace.

The Life Heritage Resort Hoi An has a range of rooms and suites to suit every taste, and offers holistic therapies as well as daily tai chi and yoga sessions to help you relax.

The Ancient House Resort is a splendid old building with spacious, airy rooms that feel more like apartments than hotel rooms, and just a short bicycle ride into town.

Alternatively Hoi An Riverside Hotel is a great spot to watch the world float by, surrounded by paddy fields and village life. It is surrounded by a lovely garden and the rooms have great balconies with views.
