|
After four days of trek from Beshisahar, Lumjung ,we reached our final destination "Manang" situated at an altitude of 3600m, has been much cherished dream for many trekkers as an adventure.
Manang's unique geographical terrain is bounded by Tibetan autonomous region to the north, Mustang district to the west, Kaski and Lumjung districts to the south and east respectively.
It is a gateway to Thorang-la pass, one of the highest pass in the world having 4530m ,indeed a paradise for trekkers.
Manang district consists of 13 villages and is divided into two valleys upper/lower and home is just about 10,000 people. Due to cold climate people of upper Manang wear red and black woollen called "Bakkhu". The local womens knit these bakkhus with great effort. The men mainly do business and women keep busy with household work. Homes are clustered together in upper Manang. Firewood is stocked on the top most floor and livestock are kept on the ground floor during winter.
As such it had been truly a journey through different cultures and lifestyles on the way to Manang, a paradise for trekkers.
