Yu-Gi-Oh on the Web

As Yu-Gi-Oh grows in popularity, more and more places on the web are carrying Yu-Gi-Oh cards and information. While some sites are simply fan sites made by people who love Yu-Gi-Oh, there are plenty more that are excellent sources of information and/or purchasing sites for the card game. This article is meant to help separate the wheat from the chaff, and to help you find what you're looking for.

Places to Find Information

As always, the best place to find information about anything is on the website of the company. In this case, the web site is Upper Deck Entertainment. This site contains many useful topics, including card text/title changes, the rules and ways to play the game, strategies for building a deck, and the list of limited and sub-limited cards.

Another useful site is Beckett.com. This is the official site of the Beckett Yu-Gi-Oh Collector. It has Yu-Gi-Oh news, as well as what is in the current issue of the magazine. It also has a store where you can buy various Yu-Gi-Oh things, such as issues of the collector, packs of cards, and tapes/DVDs of the anime series of Yu-Gi-Oh.

Places to Buy Cards

There are many good places to buy cards, but some of the card purchasing sites are also useful for information as well. You can use these sites to price cards or just to find out what powers certain cards have. I personally have not bought any cards from any of these sites, but I use them to find information much of the time.

My favorite site to find out about the value and the stats of cards is PokeOrder. It has stats and prices on all of the cards and is quite easy-to-use. I go here whenever I find out about a new set so that I can see what cards would make my deck better.

There are many more places to buy cards, but there is one place that deserves its own section.

Buying on eBay

Ebay is one of the best places to find most anything on the web. There are hundreds of people who are selling cards on eBay. for much lower than they would cost normally. They have their own section devoted to Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and it is quite interesting to browse around it from time to time. Sometimes people will buy packs and sell them on Ebay, while others will get individual cards and put them up for auction. One thing to watch out for is that some people will sell English-translated cards from China, and sell them as the real thing. Usually, they will show it and note that they are not tournament legal, but some may be dishonest and try to pass them off as real cards. Others will sell things called 'lots' where they take random packs of cards, and sell them as packs. It is completely random what you can get, and there is the risk that you will find useless cards, but most of the time the sellers will fill the lots with some pretty good cards. Lots are the favorite way to 'sell out' if people want to get out of Yu-Gi-Oh. By taking advantage of these low prices, you can get some excellent cards for some excellent prices.

The Internet is an invaluable resource for anyone who is looking for most anything. Chances are, you can find whatever you're looking for on the Internet, but it can often be difficult to find something relevant. However, it's almost always possible if you know where to look. Good luck, and happy hunting.
