Meat and Bulgur Patties- Izgara Bulgurlu Kofte

Serves about 6

1/2 cup bulgur, soaked for 10 minutes in warm water, then water squeezed out through sieve
1 pound ground lamb or beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 large sweet pepper, chopped
1 cup mashed potatoes
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 cup fine bread crumbs
1/2 cup finely chopped parsley
4 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1/8 teaspoon cayenne

Place all ingredients in a blender, then blend into a bread dough consistency, adding more bread crumbs if necessary. Roll dough into walnut size balls and flatten into patties, then place in a greased baking pan, uncovered. Bake in a 350° F preheated oven for 45 minutes or until done.
