I was told that I appeared in this book & so now having read the book I’d like to say this.
The book is a fictional account of Dana’s time at 15 B Tran Phu St, Ha Noi. The lovely couple she mentions are not very nice at all.
The husband has been involved in phoney marriage scams for many years & yes he went to gaol for it. He was everything but innocent.
One of the poor girls involved in his scam was a poor country girl. She was coerced into sleeping with a very unpleasant type for several nights on a “trial” basis.
It appears that she failed her test & was promptly sent packing with $20 for her troubles.
Her troubles were many & apart from the safe sex worries (the foreigner didn’t believe in it), she had her shame & rejection.
The couple in the book will do anything for money & I have never & will never have anything to do with either of them again.
All of the problems they face have been brought on them by themselves.
Asian bride scams are horrible & should be condemned by all.
They rarely work out & the harm they do to “cast offs” is very considerable.
Dana never consulted me on her story & never asked if I was going to do business with her mates which of course, I never did.
