Recipe: Steamed Rice - Nasi Kunyit

Serves about 8

2 cups rice
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. salt
4 cups water
1/2 cup coconut milk

Place rice, turmeric, salt and water in a bowl and allow to stand overnight.

Drain and place in the top half of a double boiler. Fill bottom half about 3/4 full with water and bring to boil. Set top with rice firmly in place, then steam over medium heat for about an hour, stirring a few times. Stir in coconut milk and steam for another 10 minutes. Serve with all types of meat or vegetable dishes or as part of other foods.
