Biographical Info:

Mike Blackwell is a former U.S. Army Special Forces Officer. During the war he served two tours of duty in the Mekong Delta as an advisor to the Vietnamese. He has also served in various command and advisory positions in Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan. After leaving active duty he earned a Master's Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Southeast Asia Studies. Mike is a principal of Pacific Affairs Associates, a consultancy which concentrates on initiating and developing business and trade ties between U.S. and Vietnamese companies. He serves as a Director of the Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce-Hawaii (VACCH), is Editor of the Chamber's bimonthly newsletter and oversees VACCH's Website (www.vacch.org). Mike has also written "After The Thunder, Uncertain Memories: An Analysis of American-Vietnamese Relations," a study of the unique dynamic that has existed since the war between the former adversaries, and the causes for their slow and uneven, but inevitable, reconciliation.
